Food Safety

As foodbourne illnesses flood the news, consumers are intensely focused on where the product is coming from and what practices are used to guarantee “safe” product.

At the Michael Cutler Company, leaders at all levels of our organization proactively choose to have a strong food safety culture. Our Quality Assurance program, starting at the farm and extending to distribution, is designed to produce safe, high-quality product. Using hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) techniques, our processes and procedures are documented and followed.  Some of the key elements include, but are not limited to:

· conducting a hazard analysis to identify hazards and the needed controls;
· identifying the critical control points and establishing limits for each control point;
· establishing monitoring procedures and corrective action steps;
· establishing verification procedures to ensure that corrective steps have been taken; documentation and recordkeeping to enable auditing.

Our employee commitment to a food safe culture is continuously strengthened through training programs, technical improvements from the fresh produce industry’s best practices and recognition of process and procedure compliance. Our on-site quality assurance managers verify product quality, appearance and taste, customer specifications, and that we exceed all government requirements.

Consumer communication is important to us. We provide clear and accurate labeling to help consumers make informed decisions, web-based information to educate consumers on the industry and its changes, and media advertising.
